چکیده
Pitaya fruits have high senescence rates throughout their postharvest storage period. Additionally, studies confirmed that melatonin plays a regulatory role in plant senescence. However, the involvement of remains unclear. In this study, two cultivars pitaya fruit, ‘Zihonglong’ and ‘Jinghonglong’, were treated with then evaluated for characteristics while 10 days. The results showed treatment delayed fruit both cultivars, as indicated by inhibition weight loss, decay incidence, relative membrane permeability, malondialdehyde (MDA) content, well maintenance total soluble solids ascorbic acid contents reduced respiration intensity. addition, O2·- production rates, H2O2 contents, lipoxygenase activities but enhanced superoxide dismutase (SOD), peroxidase (POD), catalase (CAT), ascorbate (APX) cultivars. These indicate may contribute to delaying fruits. This study shows potential use fruits, other horticultural

Enhanced reactive oxygen species scavenging by overproduction of superoxide dismutase and catalase delays postharvest physiological deterioration of cassava storage roots.
Postharvest physiological deterioration (PPD) of cassava (Manihot esculenta) storage roots is the result of a rapid oxidative burst, which leads to discoloration of the vascular tissues due to the oxidation of phenolic compounds. In this study, coexpression of the reactive oxygen species (ROS)-scavenging enzymes copper/zinc superoxide dismutase (MeCu/ZnSOD) and catalase (MeCAT1) in transgenic c...
متن کاملExogenous Putrescine Delays Senescence of Lisianthus Cut Flowers
The anti-senescence biogenic polyamines (PAs) putrescine (Put), spermidine (Spd) and spermine (Spm) are involved in plant growth processes and responses to stress. The physiological mechanism of exogenous Put to affect the senescence of cut lisianthus flowers during vase life was investigated. Fresh cut lisianthus flowers were treated with distilled water (control), 0.5, 1 and 2 mM Put and then...
متن کاملSenescence, Stress, and Reactive Oxygen Species.
Generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) is one of the earliest responses of plant cells to various biotic and abiotic stresses. ROS are capable of inducing cellular damage by oxidation of proteins, inactivation of enzymes, alterations in the gene expression, and decomposition of biomembranes. On the other hand, they also have a signaling role and changes in production of ROS can act as sign...

The objective of this study was to evaluate the storage life and quality of persimmon (Diospyros kaki Thunb.) fruit cv. ‘Karaj’ stored at 0°C for 4 months after postharvest calcium chloride treatment. Fruit weight loss, fruit firmness, total soluble solids, titratable acidity, total phenolic content, soluble tannin content, chilling injury, antioxidant activity, electrolyte leakage, and malondi...
متن کاملO 22: Reactive Oxygen Species and Epilepsy
Seizure activity has been proposed to result in the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS), which then contribute to seizure-induced neuronal damage and eventually cell death. Although the mechanisms of seizure-induced ROS generation are unclear, mitochondria and cellular calcium overload have been proposed to have a crucial role. We aim to determine the sources of seizure-induced ROS and ...
